In addition to my photography, I also have a print business, Big Exposure Print which I launched in 2008.

I specialise in large format printing also referred to as “giclee” (pronounced Zee-clay).

The name derives from the French verb 'gicler' which is to spray.

This is in relation to how an inkjet printer lays the ink down onto the medium.

The term giclee also refers to the use of archival papers which are acid free

with limited OBAs (Optical Brightness Agents) along with the use of light fast inks.

This is also referred to as Archival printing.

imagePROGRAF_PRO-4000-FSL.jpg

I have always used Canon for both my photography gear and printers.

The printer I use is called the Canon PRO 4000. It is a 44” wide printer which uses a 12 colour ink system. This makes it possible to achieve the widest possible colour gamut (range of colours).  Together with Canons Lucia inks which are lightfast (anti fade) for 75+ years.

It is an incredible printer, which still continues amaze me which its amzing reproduction ability. You can never get the same feeling that an image inspires on a screen compared to when it is printed. When I print my images onto beautiful fine art papers, they really do come to life. I have used this range of printers (I’m on my third!) for 14 years. I feel very fortunate as a photographer to be able to reproduce my own work, giving me full control over the end result.

hahnemuhle photo rag satin.jpg

I use Hahnemühle paper.

They are the oldest paper mill in the world, dating back to 1584.

I currently use their Photo Rag® Satin. This white cotton paper features the classic Photo Rag® surface with a delicate felt structure and a beautifully soft feel.

In combination with the satin-gloss premium inkjet coating, it produces outstanding prints with a beautiful sense of depth and three-dimensional quality. Colours and details are perfectly reproduced, the depth of the black truly stands out and contrasts are reproduced with stunning effect.

Photo Rag® Satin is characterised by its very unique coating. The printed areas have a soft sheen, while the unprinted areas remain matt to beautifully accentuate brilliance. Photo Rag® Satin is acid- and lignin-free which meet the most exacting requirements in terms of age resistance.

For my canvases, I use 350gsm matt cotton canvas which is stretched over a 35mm depth of frame.  The frames are my own design, made from knot free Tulipwood.  I then place a 4mm piece of mdf on top of the frame.  This gives the frame more strength and rigidity which reduces the chances of the frame bowing or the canvas sagging.

mount signature.jpg

I use Ice White Acid Free mounts for my prints. The title is set on the left hand side underneath the image and my signature is on the right hand side. The mounts have a backing board and are stamped with my logo. They are sealed in a clear bag for protection.

You can choose from either a stretched canvas, a mounted print

or mounted & framed in small, medium & large sizes.

If you would like your print framed, after I receive your order, I will get in touch with you

to discuss what colour frame you would like. The options are either black, white or pine.

Due to the nature of a website and how it integrates with google and so that pages load quicker, all of the images you see on this website are in low resolution. As a result, the incredible detail that you can see in my photography can not be appreciated.

If you would like to see any of my work in high resolution, please message me via the contact page.

I will send you a link to a secure website, in which you can view the high resolution image.

The actual size is listed on the drop down menus for each image.
